SYLMAR, Calif. – A 33-year-old man killed in a single-vehicle crash in Sylmar was identified Monday.
Charly Mederos died from multiple blunt trauma, according to the coroner’s office. His city of residence was not available.
Firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded at 12:47 a.m. Saturday to the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway east of Roxford Street, where they learned the vehicle had crashed into a Caltrans forklift, the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Brian Humphrey said.
Two men in their 30s were trapped underneath the vehicle, Humphrey said. Firefighters were able to free one and the other man freed himself.
The victim now identified as Mederos was pronounced dead at the scene and the two injured men were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said
No Caltrans workers were injured, Humphrey said.
