Inglewood Unified School District has announced the departure of Dr. Art Cunha who is following County Administrator Dr. Erika Torres out of Inglewood effective Oct. 31.
Dear Inglewood Unified School District (IUSD) Staff,
As part of our commitment to keep the community informed, I would like to share that Dr. Art Cunha, Associate Superintendent with the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) has accepted a position as the new Superintendent of Temple City Unified School District.
For the past 16 months, Dr. Cunha has been instrumental in supporting the District across all divisions: Business Services, Communications and Governance, Educational Services, and Human Resources. Through Dr. Cunha’s leadership, he has led many of the facilities modernization and improvements projects, expansion of athletics and specialized programs, nourished new partnerships, and fostered new systemic protocols in the areas of school safety and pupil support. Dr. Cunha’s leadership and impact in our District is long-lasting, as a result of his thoughtful and collaborative approach, positive nature, and ability to cultivate meaningful relationships.
I would like to thank Dr. Art Cunha for his leadership, commitment, and hard work. Dr. Cunha’s last day with IUSD will be October 31, 2022. The Cabinet Team is working closely to ensure all duties and responsibilities transition smoothly.
#WeAreInglewoodUnified
Sincerely,
Arturo Valdez, Interim County Administrator
Employees questioned the arrival of Cunha due to his checkered past in the previous school district he was at.
Who’s next?
There is growing community support to return the district back to local control. What’s that saying “we can do bad by ourselves”.
