Dear 2UrbanGirls,
It looks like Councilman Eloy Morales Jr. runs the Library system. His cousin-in-law, is the Manager, his sister-in-law is a Library Assistant, his best friend is a clerical supervisor making more than most librarians, his niece is a library clerk and his cousin, the manager’s husband was hired back on a contract basis to run the Hispanic Services Division. Isn’t it a conflict of interest and illegal for the Library Manager to hire her husband? There are plenty of qualified librarians to hire but once again it’s the Morales show.
His alleged corruption related activities have been well-documented in the Daily Breeze.

There should be an investigation into the bullying, sexual harassment, retaliation, culture of fear, and nepotism specifically in the Library. Staff who worked with the manager while she was at the Crenshaw Branch began calling it the Plantation and now the Main Library is referred to as the Plantation because of her. Her bullying and racial, gender, and age discrimination must stop.
Within the last year under the current Library Manager there has been a pattern of dismissals that should be looked into – 8 dismissals and resignations in less than a year.
The LIbrary Board continues to inquire why contracts aren’t put out to bid and why only one architect, Gwynn Pugh, is given sole authority over all projects? He was hired to consult on the Senior Center and now is over the Morningside Park renovation. They still haven’t said where the money is coming from considering Steve Ballmer’s gift towards the renovations doesn’t kick in until he receives an certificate of occupancy on the Intuit Dome.
The State Librarian is being made aware of the seriousness of the violations being committed. It is so unfortunate that the City of Inglewood does not support education including its schools and libraries. It’s time to clean house and either hire a qualified director and staff, or, outsource to the County or privatize.

The backstory of this transfer to private management of the Inglewood Public Library began with using ethnic and gender criteria to remove target female employees, and staffing vacant positions with family members and friends, thereby converting personal relationships to a substantial financial benefit. Allegedly there was at least one employee who was paid off to vacate their job for a nepotism replacement. A rigged system always rewards a select few.
Responsibility for this grossly unethical and ludicrous mashup ultimately resides with the top elected official (predictably aided by the obedient city manager and human resources) for approving the billing of taxpayers for a private, discriminatory enterprise within the city.
The library “insider” is an idiot. Staff and public will all be off 100 times better once this incompetent dolt leaves. Please let the doorknob hit you on the way out. We are all better off without you.
this letter was poorly written…hope this person doesn’t actually work at the library…
Dear Eloy,
Get a job! Or is that the problem? You aren’t qualified for anything else?
I suspect I know who you were bashing. They are eminently more qualified to discuss the library than you or your various family members who now occupy space and draw a paycheck will ever be.
You and your family are a prime example of what plagues the city and IUSD: Ineptitude and the hiring of idiots to civil service positions that they will keep for life.
GTFO Elroy! (As your own Library Board appointee used to call you)
