Lawndale Mayor Robert Pullen-Miles has stopped campaigning for the upcoming Nov. 8 election to represent the 61st Assembly District after being the top vote getter in the June primary.

Pullen-Miles is challenging incumbent, Tina McKinnor, who was elected to fulfill the expiring term of Autumn Burke who vacated the seat earlier this year for a job with a top consulting firm.
His statement is unclear as he doesn’t officially state he is no longer in the race, just that he isn’t “actively” campaigning.

Pullen-Miles lead his opponents receiving 39% of the total votes, with nearly 4,000 more votes than McKinnor, who came in second, for the newly formed 61st Assembly District.

He gave no indication as to why he’s not “actively” campaigning, however, he was heavily supported by Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts, and the entire Inglewood city council. Butts recently acknowledged “not being liked that much” by residents during a speech he gave during the Hispanic Heritage/Voter Registration Event held Sept. 18.
There are also whispers of more irregularities concerning the Inglewood Airport Area Chamber of Commerce finances, which is jointly run by the mayor and executive director, which led to the departure of several long-time board members.
McKinnor will be on the Nov. 8 ballot against Hawthorne Councilwoman Angie Reyes-English, Nico Ruderman, James Spencer and presumably Pullen-Miles too.
