The Inglewood city manager’s office is requesting the council set aside $674,000 in America Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to provide one-time vaccination incentives during the Sept. 20 regular city council meeting.
Based on the proposed $674,000 figure, they anticipate paying 674 employees which also includes part-time staff..
Inglewood was awarded $31 million in ARPA funds to replace lost revenue, provide premium pay for essential workers, respond to the far reaching negative impacts of the pandemic, and invest in water, sewer, and broadband infrastructure.
To be eligible, employees must be fully vaccinated by Tuesday Nov. 1 and still an active employee on Nov. 4. Payments will be disbursed Nov. 18 separate from their payroll check and are subject to being taxed.
Employees hired after Feb. 6, 2022 are not eligible.
The city will close its current fiscal year Sept. 30.
The city will present the FY 2022-2023 budget, after approving the vaccine incentive, which shows a nearly $6 million surplus due to the council injecting $10 million from ARPA funds into the general fund Sept. 13. You can read the proposed budget here.
Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts announced his re-election campaign kickoff is scheduled for Oct. 1 the first day of the new fiscal year.

Many of our small businesses went out of business due to the pandemic and the arrival of Kroenke’s Stadium impacting traffic making customers unable or unwilling to battle fans to get to local stores. While we the residents are told that meetings can not be held because of a threat of Covid to staff our only reaction should be BS- Blatant Stupidity! These same 4 men and the plus one puppet are constantly seen at the election parties they throw without masks. If they were concerned they should be wearing masks everywhere they go. To allocate $1,000.00 to employees for getting a vaccine seems a bit unrealistic since there are 833 employees listed on the payroll of last year, suggesting only approximately 200 are unvaccinated. What are the likelihood possibilities there is no one in those offices where the 200 at risk could make a staff presentation?
Nothing more than abuseof authority and standing right on the line of illegal seems to be the standard op for this administration
