LOS ANGELES – Kansas City Chiefs star defensive end Frank Clark pleaded no contest to a pair of misdemeanor charges stemming from his arrest in South Los Angeles for possessing a concealed weapon, prosecutors said Thursday.
Clark, 29, pleaded Wednesday to two counts of misdemeanor possession of an assault weapon, according to the District Attorney’s Office. He was immediately sentenced to a year of informal probation and ordered to perform 40 hours of community service, prosecutors said.
Clark also fulfilled a request by the judge to host four free youth football camps, according to the District Attorney’s Office. He is due back in court March 29, 2023, to ensure he fulfills all the terms of his sentence.
His plea was made directly to the judge, without any agreement with prosecutors on sentencing.
Clark was arrested in June 2021 after being pulled over for an unspecified vehicle violation near Grand Avenue and Adams Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police said he and three passengers were taken into custody when officers saw a bag with a submachine gun sticking out of it in the car.
Clark began his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks and joined the chiefs in 2019. He has been to three consecutive Pro Bowls, and he won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs in February 2020.
