It’s been two years since Mikeona Johnson left home and never returned.
She would be found nearly a week later behind Sportsman’s Park, now known as Jesse Owens Park, dead in the back seat of her car.
Homes on the north side of the park captured footage of her car on their Ring camera system but not of the fatal moments leading up to her death.
Her family continues to seek answers on what could have happened to her.
A year later, another Black woman, Tioni Theus, was found discarded on the Manchester Blvd. entrance to the Southbound 110 freeway.
What they shared in common could be a crucial step in finding both of their killers.
The Los Angeles Police Department hasn’t revealed any suspects, or DNA evidence, that could possibly provide any credible leads on either case.
A former school teacher was arrested earlier this year on a cold case murder from 2005 with the victim, Pertina Epps, sharing the same profile as Johnson and Theus.
We have speculated whether there is a serial killer preying on women in South LA after reviewing all three of their autopsy reports, although the authorities have not made any indication that theory is under consideration.
We continue to pray that all of these women’s families can find closure with their loved ones killer being brought to justice.
