LOS ANGELES – Sheriff’s detectives working with Los Angeles police continued their search Saturday for three suspects involved in the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man near the Beverly Center.
Deputies responding to reports of a shooting were flagged down by a pedestrian at about 5:25 p.m. Friday in the area of San Vicente and Santa Monica boulevards in West Hollywood, where they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside a black Cadillac Escalade SUV, according to Deputy Alejandra Parra of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Paramedics were called to the scene and took the victim to a hospital, where he later died. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Sheriff’s investigators working with the Los Angeles Police Department determined that the shooting occurred within the police department’s jurisdiction at a gas station in the area of La Cienega and Beverly boulevards, near the Beverly Center.
The victim was apparently driven to the second location by friends.
Lt. John Radke of the LAPD told reporters that the victim was in a group of people pumping gas when a white, four-door sedan with tinted windows approached from an alley, and three men exited the car and opened fire before getting back into the vehicle and fleeing east in the alley north of Beverly.
TMZ reported that Georgia rapper Quando Rondo was at the scene of the shooting, but was not hurt.
Authorities have not released any suspect descriptions. The sheriff’s department had no further information Saturday afternoon. Events leading up to the shooting remained under investigation.
