LONG BEACH, Calif. – A woman was fatally struck by a vehicle Monday in Long Beach.
The woman was struck about 1:40 a.m. at East Seventh Street and Campus Drive, and she died at the scene, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Her name was withheld, pending notification of her relatives.
The motorist remained at the scene and was interviewed by officers, police said. No arrest or citation was reported.
“At this time neither alcohol, drugs, nor distracted driving is believed to be a factor in the collision,” police said in a statement.
There has been a noticeable uptick in homicides and fatal car accidents in Long Beach in the last year.
