INGLEWOOD – Inglewood elections are less than three months away and Councilman Alex Padilla has accumulated more money in his campaign coffers than Mayor James T. Butts.
Padilla reported on campaign finance forms for period Jan. 1, 2022 through June 30, 2022 that he has raised $194,000 ending with $244,884 cash on hand. Who has donated to him?
He has raised funds from sources that don’t appear on the finance forms of either the mayor or Councilman George Dotson, most notably a $5,000 contribution from the Inglewood Police Officers Association, $2,500 from Inglewood Police Management Association and $10,000 from Los Angeles County firefighters.
Other donors are a wide range of Inglewood businesses throughout his district, developers, billboard companies, and more. LAX Firing range chipped in $10,000, Marvin Engineering gave $5,000, LA Rams gave $2,500, The Serving Spoon gave $500, and Centinela Hospital gave $1,000.
Padilla has also received an extraordinary amount of campaign cash out of Chicago.
Padilla received $750 from Councilman Eloy Morales’ brother Dr. Cesar Morales on May 18, 2022, then turned around and cut him a check for $750 under his expenditures May 24, 2022.
Nomination filing period closed Aug. 15 with no indication that incumbents Butts, Dotson, or Padilla aren’t running.
