WINDSOR HILLS, Calif. – A man was shot and killed Friday at a marijuana dispensary in the unincorporated Windsor Hills area.
Deputies from the Marina del Rey Sheriff’s Station were called at 9:45 a.m. to the 3800 block of West Slauson Avenue, between La Brea Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard, where they found the victim lying in a doorway suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, said Deputy Brenda Serna of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and no suspect information is available.
It is unknown whether the dispensary is properly licensed with the State of California considering the LA Board of Supervisors voted in Feb. of this year to create 90 businesses licenses attached to cannabis after a 12 year ban that ended after Mark RIdley-Thomas left office who was an opponent of legalization. He penned an op-ed on his “skepticism” that appeared in the Times
The County is also putting cannabis business taxes before voters in November.
