LOS ANGELES – Sheriff’s homicide detectives are seeking the public’s help Friday in locating a man and a woman who were seen leaving the neighborhood where police say a murder occurred in Monterey Park.
Detectives investigating the scene say a murder occurred in the early morning hours on Thursday at the Nueva Maravilla Housing Community, located on the 4900 block of East Cesar Chavez Avenue near the Belvedere Community Regional Park between Mednik and Vancouver avenues. Detectives say closed circuit television video surveillance discovered after the murder shows a man and a woman leaving the neighborhood.
The man appears to be forcing the woman to walk with him, said Deputy Brenda Serna of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
It is unclear if these two are related to the homicide, Serna said.
The man was wearing a black T-shirt with gray shorts and the woman was wearing gray sleeping pants with a long sleeve black sweater.
Anyone with information about the man and the woman was asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can be called into Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or submitted online at lacrimestoppers.org.
