COMPTON – Compton firefighters continue to take their issues with the city council to the public as it relates to ongoing issues that affect the safety of the city’s nearly 100,000 residents.
There have been persistent issues with fire hydrants being dry when calls for service are made, failure to properly eradicate trash problems in alleyways that resulted in a massive fire at a local business, and the city’s continued refusal to release documents related to the annual inspections of the hydrants.
The City wasted $4,000 on some dots to stop street takeovers that weren’t worth the money spent.
One of the councilmembers is on social media engaged in foolishness with some wrestlers instead of wrestling with the City’s real issues.
Mayor Emma Sharif is one of the longest serving elected officials on the city council, however, her leadership style is being called into question as it appears she has to rely on outside consultants to advise her on what to do.
The fire department is urging the public to contact their council representatives and bring these issues to their attention. They are also holding a rally Sept. 6 which coincides with first council meeting the city will hold since going dark for the month of August.
It’s a bad day in Compton when you’re city is crumbling while the council attends a conference in the desert.
Residents deserve better.

Everything that the firefighters have said is true. But Notice how they listed everyone’s phone number except Spicer. This is not by accident, one of their leaders is driving their union into the ground with his videos “exposing” the city. If city firefighters want a council to take up their issues they should think about who they support at election time. Who on this council now was supported by this firefighters union? I say take the fire department county! Let their Moor Fire Fighting leader take issue with the county operations.
