NORTH HOLLYWOOD – An armed gang member who barricaded himself after being shot at by police is at large Thursday evening.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Division Gang Unit were patrolling the area at approximately 7 p.m. near the 7800 block of Radford Avenue, near Strathern Street, when they saw the suspect exit a vehicle with what they believed to be a firearm, the police said.
After officers stopped the vehicle they fired at the suspect.
Police said the suspect ran away and barricaded himself in a nearby home. Officers evacuated the area, established a containment perimeter and called in a SWAT team.
SWAT officers entered the home after negotiations with the suspect stalled and discovered that he was gone, police said.
A weapon was found in the area where the shooting occurred. Investigators are in the process of reviewing video and gathering evidence.
It is unknown if the suspect was wounded.
