Inglewood residents will go to the polls to elect its next mayor, two members of the city council, and our State Assemblymember.
A review of late filings by the oil industry indicate they are funding two candidates running for state office.
The Coalition to Restore California’s Middle Class, Including Energy Companies who Produce Gas, Oil, Jobs and Pay Taxes Committee has received millions in contributions from oil companies like Valero, Chevron, and the Western States Petroleum Association.
Their only known Inglewood address is a P.O. Box.
The committee spent in excess of $500,000 in mailers, postage and research on behalf of Lawndale Mayor Robert Pullen-Miles, and reported approx. $134,000 for Tina McKinnor.
The funds were attached to their Assembly District 61 race which is for a full two-year term.
The committee also spent in excess of $360,000 in the Assembly District 80 race on behalf of Asm. David Alvarez
McKinnor won the special election in June to fulfill the expiring term of former Asm. Autumn Burke who abruptly resigned for a cushy consulting gig.
McKinnor ended with 31,348 votes to Pullen-Miles’ 28,359 for the term ending Dec. 5.
On the other hand, Pullen-Miles bested McKinnor in the newly formed Assembly District 61 race 24,332 to 20,478.
How and why did McKinnor lose a third of her support on the same ballot?
