Officials yet to identify man found dead in lake at SoFi Stadium

INGLEWOOD – A man was found dead in the lake at the entrance of SoFi Stadium on July 6 and has yet to publicly identified by the medical examiner’s office.

“Yes, the decedent has been identified,” said Sarah Ardalani, Public Information Officer for the Medical Examiner’s office.

Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts and police chief Mark Fronterotta held a late afternoon press conference that day where the mayor discussed an alleged timeline events that was presumably provided to him by Hollywood Park Management Co. who runs the property.

The mayor definitively stated the victim, a hispanic man, was 45 years old. He also provided an account of the victim allegedly being watched on surveillance cameras scaling a fence near Century Blvd. and had time to walk through the property and to the lake and get into it before security made contact with him.

He did not provide details of any items retrieved from the victim.

This was alleged to occur between 6:01 a.m. and 6:13 a.m.

Without the release of the alleged surveillance video there is no way to verify the statements made by the mayor are accurate due to another definitive statement he made multiple times.

“I have not seen the video,” said Butts. He was responding to questions posed of him about if the saw the video or if the footage would be released.

“There are no plans to release it,” said Butts.
