LOS ANGELES – The California Highway Patrol Sunday issued a Silver Alert to help locate an 83-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s disease missing from the unincorporated Westmont area of South Los Angeles.
Maria Dolores Melara was last seen about 7 a.m. Saturday near 105th Street and Vermont Avenue, according to the CHP.
Melara is described as Hispanic, 5 feet 2 inches tall, 120 pounds with short white hair and brown eyes, on foot, and wearing a floral shirt, blue pants and brown UGG boots.
She might be headed to the area of 190th St. and Wilmington Ave. in Los Angeles, said Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Anyone who sees Melara is asked to call 911, sheriff’s detectives at 323-898-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
The CHP activates a Silver Alert when an elderly, developmentally or cognitively impaired person is missing and determined to be at risk in an effort to locate them more quickly.
