LOS ANGELES – Authorities have released the identities of two men killed in a mass shooting at Peck Park on Sunday, July 24.
Tashman Williams, 32, from Compton, and Carlyle Phillips, 29, from Cypress, were identified by authorities as the two victims.
The shooting occured in the late afternoon during a softball game. In all there were eight victims who ranged in age from 23 to 54 according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
It remains unclear how many shooters there were, though officials believe there were at least two, and police have found a number of firearms at the scene.
Police described the incident as a dispute between two parties, not a random attack, and said it’s unknown “if this is a gang related incident.”
A motive for the shooting was unknown and no suspect information was immediately available.
