UVALDE – The superintendent of Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Hall Harell announced embattled Chief Pete Arredondo has been placed on administrative leave.

The announcement comes nearly 30 days after the May 24 mass shooting at Robb Elementary School where 19 students and 2 teachers were killed.
The announcement comes on the heels of more details coming out contradicting Arredondo’s assertions that law enforcement officials were “looking for keys” to unlock the classroom door where the children and teachers were being killed after video surveillance was released that showed the officers in the hallway never checking the door to see if it were locked.
To make matters worse, a teacher who is married to a Uvalde school officer, called her husband who was denied entry, had his gun taken, and removed from the school after attempting to rescue her.
It’s about time.
