LOS ANGELES – A man was taken into custody Thursday after barricading himself in a West Adams-area residence following a traffic stop in which Los Angeles police fired but did not hit him.
The incident began about 12:30 a.m., when officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 3700 block of Exposition Boulevard, said Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department.
When the driver got out of the vehicle, an officer-involved shooting occurred, and the man ran inside a residence, Im said.
“The suspect was not hit by gunfire,” Im said. “There is no evidence the officers were fired upon.”
Other details of the OIS were not being released, and the investigation was continuing, Im said.
A standoff ensued, and the man came out about an hour later and was taken into custody, Im said. Police did not release the man’s name or information on what he would be booked for.
