LOUISVILLE – Louisville police have arrested a 30 year old man on assault charges after video caught him punching Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer.
Antwon Brown, 30, of Louisville, was arrested by LMPD First Division detectives June 21.
Police say he was taken into custody in Louisville without incident and has been charged with one count of assault. It is unknown why Brown punched the mayor.
Black activists in Louisville say the increase in violence against elected officials is becoming too common.
Video captured a woman slapping French President Emmanuel Macron during an event, and protestors in Los Angeles have taken their complaints from council chambers to elected officials homes to speak against policies related to homelessness and public safety.
The investigation into the Louisville incident is ongoing.
