LONG BEACH – At least one person was killed Tuesday in a freeway collision in Long Beach. First responders found a woman shot inside the vehicle, according to broadcast reports.
Officers from the California Highway Patrol were called at 2:32 a.m. to the Anaheim Street off ramp and the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway, said CHP Officer Ramon Kendricks.
Officers found Mercedes Mingo, 35, of Los Angeles dead at the scene behind the wheel of the SUV, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Mingo had suffered at least one gunshot wound to her upper body, according to Fox11, which reported that the SUV she was driving had Nevada license plates.
First responders who arrived on the scene told Fox 11 they found the driver with at least one gunshot wound to her upper body.
Police say the suspect is at large. Long Beach Police Department and the CHP are investigating the shooting.
It was unknown if the victim was taken to a hospital or died at the scene.
