LAS VEGAS – Raiders owner Mark Davis announced he is donating $1 million to the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District to make their campuses safer. Our concern is if the current Chief is capable of completing the task?
Pete Arredondo made catastrophic errors that cost people their life. I don’t understand how he is allowed to still be called “chief” of the department. Despite his decades of experience, he wasn’t ready for “primetime” when the shit hit the fan.
He didn’t even cover the basics by having keys to the school on him. It makes you wonder what he actually does on a typical workday.
The schools safety plan should be a collaborative approach, no different than the jail built inside of SoFi Stadium. Oh wait, I’m not sure if that happened either, but you get my point.
Law enforcement should be the primary contact for implementing safety measures because they are supposed to be the expert.
You see everyone wants to be the chief until it comes down to being accountable for the actions. Arredondo isn’t accountable for his because his apparent ego won’t allow him to step aside and let someone else take the reigns.
It was very generous of Mark Davis but he needs to stipulate that the donation is contingent upon the removal of Arredondo.
This donation comes on the heels of a judge denying the NFL’s motion to dismiss John Gruden’s lawsuit against the league for leaking old emails to force him out of coaching the Raiders.
