The Fair Political Practices Commission is proposing a $240,000 penalty be levied against a former Compton City Councilman for failure to submit required campaign finance disclosure forms in accordance with state law and for using the funds on personal expenses.
Ex-Compton Councilman Isaac Galvan was on the FPPC’s June 16 agenda to received a pre-notice default after he failed to submit the requested forms. The June 16 was subsequently cancelled.
This action comes on the heels of a judge removing him from the council after winning the 2021 General Election by one vote after witnesses came forward detailing their involvement in casting votes on Galvan’s behalf despite them not being Compton residents.
Most recently, Galvan was involved in a fight at the home of his son’s grandparents where his former council liaison David Blake Jr. has been arrested on murder charges stemming from the fight.
According to the City’s website, Galvan hasn’t submitted campaign finance reports since the June 30, 2016, filing period.
Galvan and Jace Dawson continue to face election fraud charges filed by the District Attorney’s office.
