VAN NUYS – Authorities Wednesday identified a woman who was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in the Van Nuys area.
The crash occurred at about 5:40 a.m. Tuesday between the Northridge and Van Nuys stations, and involved Metrolink train 100 on the Ventura County Line, which was en route from Moorpark to Los Angeles, according to Scott Johnson of Metrolink.
Jila Jandaghi, 21, of Granada Hills died at the scene, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported.
Jandaghi was in a “non-pedestrian” area, Johnson said. She was fatally injured at Balboa and Roscoe boulevards, according to reports from the scene.
About 40 people were aboard the train, and no one was hurt, Johnson said. Alternate transportation was arranged for the passengers, and the railroad tracks were closed while an investigation was conducted.
