VAN NUYS – A 24-year-old woman was shot to death Wednesday in the Van Nuys area, and a 24-year-old man was arrested in the killing, authorities said.
Alondra Flores died at the scene of the shooting, which was reported at about 1:35 a.m. near Ranchito Avenue and Oxnard Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers went to the location after receiving a call from a man — later identified as Ryan Vintch — who told police that Flores had shot herself before he fled the scene into a nearby residence, according to the LAPD.
Police arrested Vintch on suspicion of murder and recovered a handgun “that will be forensically processed and booked as evidence.” Vintch was booked into the LAPD’s Van Nuys Community Police Station jail and was being held without bail.
A motive for the shooting was not immediately known. However, Fox 11 reported that Vintch was Flores’ boyfriend.
Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to contact LAPD Valley Bureau Homicide at 818-374-9550. Calls made during non-business hours or on weekends can be directed to 877-527-3247.
