LOS ANGELES – A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash as she crossed a street in the Vermont-Slauson area of South Los Angeles, authorities said Monday.
The crash was reported at 9:08 p.m. Sunday in the area of Normandie Avenue and 59th Street, according to a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division.
The woman was crossing Normandie Avenue in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a northbound vehicle, according to Officer Lizette Lomeli in the LAPD’s Media Relations Section. The vehicle continued northbound without stopping.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.
A description of the vehicle involved were not immediately available.
