Dear 2UrbanGirls,
I received a letter from the city of Inglewood with disturbing news. An unintended consequence of this housing protection ordinance the City passed with little to no input from residents. They put this new tax on us disguised as a home registration fee for our units.
If you don’t register they charge you a $200 penalty. If you don’t register by July 1 they want to charge us a $500 per MONTH fine until we comply. I remember you writing about the City writing off bad debt they never collected.
Are they beefing up their AR to get a larger line of credit?
What’s most disturbing is their disclaimer that says our tenants can withhold rent until we register.
This is the same City that isn’t processing our tenants rent relief applications. Is this a bad joke?
Can you please look into this or can you put me in touch with the guy who comes to the council meetings complaining about this?
