INGLEWOOD – The Inglewood City Attorney’s office has presented in excess of $1 million in legal fees with invoices dating back to November 2021. The warrant register on the May 3 regular city council agenda indicates the work isn’t attached to any specific department.
Inglewood City Clerk Aisha Thompson has responded to records requests regarding legal invoices stating they are not disclosable due to attorney client privilege.
The City is currently entangled in multiple lawsuits related to Mayor James T. Butts.
He is being sued by his ex-aide Melanie McDade, treasurer Wanda Brown, and an LAPD motor officer and his wife.
What do you think of the City spending so much on Butt’s legal fees? How could that money be put to better use?
And why aren’t these invoices being paid in a timely manner?
