INGLEWOOD – Inglewood City Clerk will call for elections to be held Nov. 8 during the May 10 regular city council meeting. As the City continues to deny the public entry into council chambers, they are ramping up community events which appear to be thinly veiled campaign events.
Padilla kicked off with a pancake breakfast with the local firefighters. Contract costs are up. A proposed measure to increase taxes for public safety failed, and the mayor and council need their support in a major way. The event was held at Fire Station 172 which was previously closed due to the fiscal emergency declared back in 2010.
The City is currently in another fiscal emergency declared August 3, 2021. The City continues to scramble to increase fees to pay for vital city services, including public safety.
Padilla’s Planning Commissioner is busy planning for a Jazz Festival in Centinela Park, that will cost taxpayers in excess of $100,000 in additional law enforcement personnel to secure the sprawling event site. Law enforcement costs for the Taste of Inglewood Big Game super bowl festival cost were similar.
Dionne Faulk is hosting line dancing at Crenshaw/Imperial shopping center, and a women’s empowerment summit with guest speakers, including the mayor and council. The mayor is facing lawsuits from two women for harassment, stalking and retaliation, but he’s invited to speak at a women’s empowerment event? Are Aisha and Dionne reading the room?
The event will be held in the federally funded Senior Center, which is becoming a party house of sorts. The council has yet to offer a concise explanation as to why housing funds were used to build the center, when there is no on-site housing.
These folks are blatantly campaigning with taxpayers money, without any disclosure on the council agendas as to how much these events cost us in law enforcement fees. Are we fed up yet?
Amazingly isn’t it
This Council can spend, spend, spend our money to party, party, party but they “can not afford” to provide recreation programs for our kids, (even when those employees sometimes only make $20,000 PER YEAR. and homeowners have to pay to register their homes and have parking permits for their family to visit.
Ya gotta wonder why they think we can safely gather in mass to party but can not allow us to enter the building we paid for to conduct business without an appointment !
Let us get real with all kinds of smoke in the air at these events without restriction aren’t these really parties really only for those who want to use the not too long ago illegal substances, somehow that is not senior or children friendly.
Inglewood’s image is to cater to the crowd that disrespects the rights of residents with the residents picking up all the tabs.
As for the Woman Empowerment gathering perhaps it is the Woman the Married Mayor had an affair with using our dollars to reward her and our dollars to punish her, the ELECTED BY US Woman who The Mayor decided to bar from her office, and the Woman the Mayor told to Choke herself who should be the featured speakers !
NO MAN ESPECIALLY an ELECTED MALE should ever treat any Woman this way and ….
NO WOMEN SHOULD CELEBRATE OR HONOR ANY MAN WHO DOES SO. !!!!
ESPECIALLY AT PUBLIC EXPENSE AND IN A PUBLIC BUILDING
