INGLEWOOD – In-person voting for the primary election began Saturday across Los Angeles County, with more vote center locations set to open on June 4 ahead of election day on June 7.
Inglewood voters will select a new State Assemblymember to replace Autumn Burke. Tina McKinnor faces Robert Pullen-Miles after besting him by 2,000 votes in April.
Congresswoman Maxine Waters is seeking an additional term against three challengers.
Compton voters will elect members to the Compton School Board for Areas A, E, and G.
Board Vice President Satra Zurita faces Mary Jackson-Freeney for seat G, LaQuisha Anderson, Adrian Cleveland, and Denzel Perry are seeking seat A, and Alma Taylor-Pleasant and Adrian Marie Thomas are seeking seat E.
Compton will also elect an Assembly member deciding whether to return Mike Gipson to another term, or select Fatima Iqbal-Zubair who supported Andre Spicer for city council.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva faces Eli Vera, Robert Luna, Cecil Rhambo, Britta S. Steinbrenner, Karla Yesenia Carranza, Matt Rodriguez, Eric Strong and April Saucedo Hood.
Los Angeles voters will decide on citywide races for mayor, controller and city attorney, as well as City Council districts.
Curren Price is seeking his third and final term serving District 9 residents and Ret. Los Angeles City Councilwoman Jan Perry is running against Sen. Sydney Kamlager for Karen Bass’ Congressional seat.
The top two candidates in each race will continue to a runoff in November, unless one candidate receives more than 50% of the vote during the primary.
People who registered to vote before Monday and were automatically sent vote-by-mail ballots can return their ballots by mail by June 7, drop it off at a Los Angeles County vote center or in an official vote-by-mail drop box location, which can be found at locator.lavote.gov/locations/vbm.
People who missed the registration deadline can still register at any L.A. County vote center starting Saturday and through June 7. Once registered, voters will be given a Conditional Voter Registration ballot to vote. The ballot will be counted once it is verified.
