DOWNEY – The Downey Police Department released a statement on the May 26 arrest of David Blake Jr. who serves as the liaison to Compton Councilman Isaac Galvan. Booking records show he is in custody with a $2 million bail.
According to the release, officers responded to the 13200 Block of Carfax Avenue May 25 due to a fight in progress.
As the officers were en route, they received another call of shots fired.
The victim, Julio Cardoza, was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
The investigation identified Blake, 27, as the suspect and he was arrested May 26 at 4:00 a.m. in the city of Porter Ranch on felony murder charges.
Blake is the son of Compton rap star DJ Quik.
Blake is due in court May 31.
