TUSTIN – A woman was killed early Saturday while walking in lanes of the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway in Tustin.
Sarah De La Riva was 33 years old and her city of residence was not available, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.
The crash occurred about 1:10 a.m. on the northbound 55 at 17th Street, California Highway Patrol Officer M. Schneiderman said.
De La Riva was walking in lanes when she was struck by a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by a 51-year-old Orange woman, Schneiderman said. It was unclear why De La Riva was in the road.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Freeway lanes 2, 3 and 4 were closed until 3:11 a.m. for the investigation, the officer said.
