LOS ANGELES – A man and a woman were in custody Friday in connection with a shooting on the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway that left a man hospitalized.
The shooting was reported about 9:35 a.m. Wednesday just south of the Gardena (91) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Anthony Ramos and Maura Sanchez, both 27, were arrested Thursday and booked on suspicion of attempted murder, the CHP reported.
According to a CHP statement, officers went to the shooting scene after receiving “a 911 call from a tow truck operator stating he was fired upon and struck.”
“The victim described the suspect vehicle as a Volkswagen mini-SUV- type vehicle,” the CHP said. “The victim was transported and treated at Harbor UCLA Hospital and remains in stable condition.”
The suspects were arrested about 6 a.m. Thursday by personnel from the CHP, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Banning Police Department. Investigators recovered a Volkswagen Tiguan and two firearms, the CHP reported.
The investigation was ongoing, and other details were not being released, the CHP reported. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the CHP South Los Angeles Area office at 424-551-4000.
