LONG BEACH – A 32-year-old man was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed in Long Beach, police said Monday.
Jeremy Chavez of Los Alamitos, died at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 7:15 p.m. Sunday on Studebaker Road near Loynes Drive, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1993 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by an adult male, was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Studebaker Road approaching Loynes Drive, when (the man) lost control of the motorcycle,” police said in a statement.
“The driver struck the center median and then collided into the concrete barrier over a portion of the Los Cerritos Channel,” police said.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, police said.
“The driver had a valid California driver’s license with an M1 endorsement,” police said. “Distracted driving and driving under the influence are still under investigation as possible causes of this collision.”
