INGLEWOOD – A small group of influential business owners staged a multi-person protest in front of City Hall today.
They are asking Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts to bring back Senior Lead Officers and the Community Affairs section.
They held signs that said “you promised but haven’t delivered” and “the community hires you, the community fires you”.
Earlier this week, the mayor put his foot in his mouth when he made promises to residents about a pending school closure, that County Administrator Erika Torres was forced to refute in a district wide email. The mayor also sent an email “apologizing” for his words being misconstrued.
Mayor Butts, and Councilmen George Dotson and Alex Padilla are up for re-election this November. The Inglewood Police Officers Association has already given their public endorsement of Padilla, who residents share has been spotted heavily in District 3 and driving around the community speaking to as many residents as possible.
IPOA hasn’t made an endorsement, yet, for mayor or District 1.
Has Mayor Butts made you a promise he hasn’t kept?

We should all notice the promises which were broken and the actions taken by each person up for election in November.
About those endorsements:
We all need to recognize that the Inglewood Police Officers endorsement is partially based on their need to get their contract negotiations to go in their favor,
Our needs are not necessarily their priority.
They typically want more money and more time off and better benefits all of which come out of our tax dollars at the expense of our safety.
Remember while each council member may seem to be a “nice guy”
Each one has voted for whatever James Butts has put before them ,
NONE have stood up for resident desire for meetings to return to evening hours when the public who works can attend.
Each has been on board with the Mayor suing Mr Tixiera for free speech issues , telling Ms Sambrnd to “Go Choke yourself, Insulting Gil Matthieu disrespecting the public in general
Each pretended they didn’t know James Butts was “involved” with Melanie McDade (if that was true none should be permitted to drive due to lack of vision) and her nearly $300,000.00 salary.
Each voted for annual bonuses of thousands of dollars each to executive management why terminating low cost employees.
