A 40-year-old man riding a motorized scooter near Watts was fatally struck by a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old man, who stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, authorities said Sunday.
It was not immediately known if the 19-year-old man was cited or arrested, said Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Division.
The 19-year-old was driving a vehicle eastbound on Imperial Highway when he made a left turn onto Grandee Avenue, where his vehicle struck the scooter at about 10:50 p.m. Saturday, Eisenman said.
Paramedics rushed the victim to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries, she said.
