SOUTH EL MONTE – The name of a man found dead on a freeway off- ramp in South El Monte was released Thursday.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office identified Gerardo Salazar, 61, as the man who police believe could have been the victim of a hit and run.
Salazar was discovered shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday on the Rosemead Boulevard off-ramp from the westbound Pomona (60) Freeway, California Highway Patrol Officer Edgar Figueroa told City News Service.
Deputies from the Temple Sheriff’s Station also responded to the scene and told the CHP it appeared the man was a pedestrian and the victim of a hit-and-run crash, Figueroa said.
According to the coroner’s office, Salazar died of multiple blunt trauma injuries. His city of residence was not immediately known.
