LANCASTER – A woman was shot and killed by deputies in Lancaster Tuesday.
Investigators say a woman who was fatally shot by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies in Lancaster allegedly attacked them prior to being killed. Deputies from the Lancaster Station were called to the 25300 block of Abacus Avenue regarding a family disturbance with a possibly mentally
ill person at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday.

When they arrived deputies say they encountered a woman who was armed with a knife. At some point during their interaction, the woman charged at the deputies with the knife and a deputy shot
her.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was withheld pending notification of her next of kin.
