Embattled Los Angeles Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas is asking for the community’s help. He is seeking donations towards his legal fees, and letters asking for his reinstatement to the council.
“Is this about him or his salary and benefits,” asked one elected official who received the solicitation.

He don’t need our money. He got plenty of rich donors to help him out!
Where do we send the donation?
Here’s the link!

Oh dear Really.?….did he really send this….?
Okay for starters he has lived off the “elected leader” payroll (tax payer salary and benefits) for over 30 years and somehow didn’t think of saving any money for a rainy day, and now is asking others ( either the millionaires that kept him in office or the “at risk non-affluent constitute base) to step in and fund his defense and his life while over and over he authored or voted for policies that clearly did not significantly better the lives the votes impacted !
As for the slam on Herb Wesson – though his votes have likewise done little to help the community he has represented, he has also managed to play “Musical Elected Chairs” for some 30 years…sometimes with 90% of the vote…..Really? the slam “ hand picked” would have played better if the council had temporarily placed Council President Nurey’s great grandchild in the District 10 chair. Hmmm well not quite but kinda like USC hiring an unqualified professor.
Clearly this plea for funds does not inspire belief in innocence – it does scream of sense of entitlement to continued elected status no matter what his moral, or ethical challenges cost taxpayers.
Please voters put an end to the concept of “once elected = always re-elected”.
Oh and didn’t Mark seek higher office ? If it is wrong today (which it is), why doesn’t he think it was okay for him? Would that be a case of double standard?
Rumor has it Home Depot and McDonald’s are hiring. Oh yes there are those construction jobs financed by taxpayers to house the homeless …..
Elected should represent real working people not a group who think they are tooo something to work in the jobs we do.
