INGLEWOOD – Police are investigating the apparent beating of a San Francisco 49ers fan found severely injured in the parking lot of SoFi Stadium during Sunday’s NFC championship game against the Rams.
Daniel Luna, a restaurant owner from Oakland, remains hospitalized at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in what Inglewood police said was a medically induced coma.
Luna, 40, was discovered on the ground by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics in Lot L of the stadium about 4 p.m., a half an hour into the Rams-49ers contest, said Inglewood Police Lt. Geoffrey Meeks. Luna was wearing a San Francisco jersey and black pants, Meeks said.
The City and their law enforcement officers continue to reinforce the city is safe to attend events, especially the upcoming Super Bowl which will be played in Inglewood Feb. 13.
“This is going to be one of the safest, most glamorous Super Bowls in the history of Super Bowls,” Inglewood Mayor James Butts said at a media briefing Wednesday.
Inglewood was the scene of a mass shooting Jan. 23, which left four dead, and one survivor. The shooting remains under investigation.

Well the mayor was talking about the “Super Bowl” and that date has not arrived !
Additionally he does speak of the SuperBowl itself, will he and Kroenke suggest that only refers to the gamefield rather than extending that “safety zone” to other days or to any space not used by the team members to kick, throw, or run with a ball?
Of course there are many more questions to be asked:
Was the victim taken directly to Harbor-General by the ambulance which arrived with the Fire Department Paramedics or was he later transferred there after being “stabilized” at Centinela Hospital just blocks away from the stadium?
Why did Inglewood Police not share with the public that a person had been injured so intensely until 3 days after the “possible” beating?
If there was no need for Chef Luna to be in a medically induced coma, would we even have been made aware of the “possibility ” of a beating or would the wounds be dismissed as insignificant or perhaps an antidotal attempt to what was that…..stifle the “ascension” of Inglewood?
How does a beat down fit in with the concept of “glamorous”?
What is the total number of Security persons (IPD and private) that are on site at each game?
What kind of police presence is there for the rest of Inglewood on game days?
How many areas of the stadium do/ do not have operating cameras?
And then since this is the administration of lawsuits….How much will Inglewood residents be required to pay in medical, rehab, loss of income expenses to the Luna family, not to mention the anguish, anxiety impacts?
So, about the halftime show——can someone please explain how using the “n word”, and insulting rather than honoring women, and lifting up anyone who recommends killin’or drug use in lyrics is glamorous or contributes to safety????
Does being referred to as the not quite “witch” or a “gardening tool” sound like heartwarming words to the wives and daughters of the WalMart (Kroenke family) and the NFL owners and players?
