The Inglewood city council rejected a wrongful death claim filed on behalf of Robin Dantzler, Samuel Small, Samantha Small, and Robert Small during the Jan. 11 regular city council meeting. The claim involves their loved one being killed while riding his bicycle.
Mayor Butts is seen being assisted by City Clerk Aisha Thompson, during the meeting, after her office failed to pass out an updated version of the Jan. 11 agenda to the council. Viewers of the meeting commented this is a recurring problem since the new city clerk took over.
According to sources familiar with the accident say a man was riding his bike on LaCienega Blvd. and a motorist traveling along Florence Ave. hit him as he attempted to cross the lanes.
The driver stopped and answered questions.
It is unclear if there are marked bike paths along Florence and Centinela, as many cyclists use these streets which run adjacent to the under construction Crenshaw/LAX rail line.
Residents have previously called into city council meetings to complain about the conditions of the road, and them being filled with glass and debris, when they ride their bikes down certain streets near construction sites in Inglewood.
It is unclear why the City is attached to the lawsuit.
