INGLEWOOD – A former principal of Inglewood High School has plead guilty to three felony’s according to the District Attorney’s office.
Kyle Douglas was charged last year for allegations stemming from his time working for both the Inglewood and Pasadena School districts.
In 2017, while employed as the principal at Inglewood High School, Douglas was accused of negotiating a contract with a company for private use of the school’s parking lot. He allegedly did not receive authorization and profited about $57,000 from the deal.
Two years later, while working as principal at Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Pasadena, Douglas is accused of collecting about $10,000 for a student trip to China and never paying the company that he hired to organize the trip.
On Jan. 21 Douglas plead guilty to three felony counts: misappropriation, forgery, and grand theft. He was sentenced to formal probation, 120 days community service and ordered to make $67,700 in restitution, according to spokesperson Greg Risling.
Douglas is believed to have been able to pull of his schemes in Inglewood due to the merry go round of state appointed administrators not fully immersing themselves in the day-to-day operations of the district.
There were also questions about the whereabouts of the school police while Douglas was operating an illegal parking lot on the campus.
