CARSON, Calif. – Carson residents have sued over obnoxious fumes emanating from the Dominguez Channel. City of Inglewood warrant registers provide a clue that the management of the channel is performed by the South Bay Cities Council of Governments under a five year contract.
The contract dated October 10, 2018, details the City of Los Angeles Public Works department awarded the South Bay COG a five-year agreement, worth $6,321,366, to perform monitoring services of the channel from FY 2018-19 through FY 2022-23.
Member cities of the COG, include Carson, who pays tens of thousands of dollars to them to act on environmental issues on their behalf.
The Inglewood warrant register shows they contributed $75,794 in 2020 to the COGT towards the Dominguez Channel Watershed Management.
The County took “responsibility” for the issue, but should the residents be suing other entities too?
