The city of Inglewood received $31 million in federal funds under the American Rescue Plan Act and continues to appropriate funds totaling $10 million to the general fund.
The Sept. 13 city council agenda shows $10 million will go into the general fund to replenish public sector revenue losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Last week on the Sept. 6 council agenda, the city used $3.3 million towards paying off past due balances owed by residents to the water department.
The current fiscal year closes Sept. 30 which this influx of ARPA funds will most likely show the City with a surplus right before voters go to the polls Nov. 8.
The city will also continue to deny the public access to council chambers by extending teleconferencing under AB 361. Commission meetings for Police Oversight, Parks & Recreation, Parking and Traffic continue to be cancelled/postponed.
Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts Jr. continues to deny the public full access to city hall citing COVID concerns despite the council regularly not wearing masks or implementing social distance measures during council meetings or city events.
Mayor Butts was seen wearing a mask during the community swearing in ceremony for Inglewood Asm. Tina McKinnor.
The city will award Doja Inc.a $693,000 contract to perform repairs to the bathroom at Darby Park and pay an invoice related to software for the Inglewood Transit Connector project in the amount of $173,000 for a one year subscription renewal and an invoice for nearly $32,000 for emergency repairs for a water well.
