INGLEWOOD – Inglewood residents in a gated community adjacent to SoFi Stadium are selling their for record amounts despite being bombarded with an onslaught of traffic congestion and noise emanating from the stadium during events.
To make matters worse, a retention wall designed to drown out the noise was removed which makes living near the stadium unbearable (for some).
Residents aren’t able to take advantage of the booming short-term rental industry after a long awaited ordinance, regulating the industry was discussed by the city council during a June 28 public hearing, The homeowners association alleges the CC&R’s won’t allow Airbnb.
The gated community is home to several members of Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts’ inner circle, including a member of the city council who represents the area. Residents continue to cry foul over the lack of parking enforcement in the immediate area and the inconvenience to enter/exit during event days.
Adding the pressure of living next to the multi-billion dollar stadium is continuous construction at the Hollywood Park site, the incoming Intuit Dome, and proposed Inglewood Transit Connector.
Residents displeasure with the community go back to its inception which was covered by another site. When the homes were built in 2005 they were selling between $500k – $700k depending on floor plans and upgrades.
Prior to the community being built, the site was the home to Getty (Oil) Field where many children played little league baseball.
HOA fees are $248 per month with property records detailing liens have been placed on some homeowners for as little as less than $2,000 for failure to pay the monthly fees. The HOA also enforces strict parking guidelines during event days.
