Healthcare workers minimum wage ballot measure could go before Inglewood voters

INGLEWOOD – During the July 12 regular city council meeting the city clerk will certify petition signatures to place a ballot measure before Inglewood voters to establish a minimum wage for certain employees employed at privately owned health care facilities in the City.

The notice for intent to circulate the petition was filed with the city clerk’s office Feb. 17.

The petition gatherers were required to receive signatures from 10% of the City’s 63,511 registered voters.

Organizers submitted 9,299 signatures with 6,381 signatures accepted.

The city of Los Angeles recently enacted a minimum wage increase to $25 per hour, to avoid the matter going before voters in November.

The Inglewood city council could adopt the proposed measure themselves, without alterations, or place it before Inglewood voters on the Nov. 8 ballot.

It makes you wonder why the rent control petition failed.
