COMPTON – A man was fatally shot Monday in Compton and sheriff’s detectives were searching for his killer. This was the third murder recorded in the city on July 4.
The shooting happened around 5 p.m. in the 800 block of El Segundo Boulevard, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Chen.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
A motive for the shooting was unknown and no suspect description was available.
Two men were also reported shot, in a separate shooting, with one located at the entrance to the Martin Luther King Hospital in the WIllowbrook area where he died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Later in the evening a third man was shot and killed in the 1000 block of West 134th Place.
