NORWALK – A former Compton city council liaison accused of murder was denied a bail reduction during a schedule court hearing June 27 despite posting bond June 21.
David Marvin Blake Jr., 27, is charged with the May 25 killing of Julio Cardoza, who was shot following a fight in the 13200 block of Carfax Avenue.
A fight broke out at a Downey residence that resulted in the death of Julio Cardoza, 33.
Blake, who was in a car nearby, allegedly fatally shot Cardoza and then drove away, according to prosecutors.
Cardoza victim, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, died that day at a hospital, according to records from the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Blake, is being held on more than $2 million bail.
Speculation about former Compton Councilman Isaac Galvan’s alleged involvement ended when the victim’s brother spoke out to 2UrbanGirls.
“Isaac Galvan brought David Blake Jr. to his son’s grandmother’s home and was there for the entire encounter,” said Angel Nieto.
Galvan has not made any public statements on the matter but is scheduled for a court appearance June 30 related to election fraud charges stemming from Compton’s General Election held last June.
The woman who answered the phone in the court’s Department J refused to provide details related to Blake’s next court date.
