INGLEWOOD – Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts was scheduled to sit for a deposition this week but he won’t be attending.
Sources share that the court reporters and videographer that were scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, to take his deposition, were told to unblock their calendars.
It is unclear if/why the mayor is avoiding the deposition, considering it was on the calendar for nearly 60 days.
Sources say the mayor cited a ”medical” situation for not attending.
“Mayor Butts is in no hurry to answer questions under oath, from a skilled questioner like me,” said Carl Douglas, when reached by phone. “There has never been a politician on Earth who is in. a hurry to answer questions under oath, by a skilled questioner.”
This is remarkable considering Mayor Butts was seen at multiple events in the city over the weekend.
He attended a community meeting in Morningside Park about the closure of Warren Lane Elementary, and also had time to swing by the Senior Center to catch the Lombardi Trophy which is on tour throughout LA.
We know Carl Douglas and Melanie McDade were ready.
Is the mayor hiding, or working behind the scenes on a settlement?
